The Enxarrama wine dates back to the late 13th century, making it one of the oldest documented winemaking regions in Évora. It is named after Évora's most significant river, now called Xarrama.
In the late 19th century, before phylloxera struck, it was considered the best wine in the region.
The wine ages for 10 years before release, divided into 36 months in 228-liter French oak barrels, about 12 months in 500-liter vats, followed by 6 years in the bottle.
Fita Preta Enxarrama 2014 is a full-bodied wine that you can almost chew. Concentration and power. It's alcoholic (15º) and tremendously tasty. The tannins are very present, but it is not tannic. It is the ideal type of red to accompany stronger meats.
