High above the Atlantic Ocean 80 to 580 metters, on the Island of Pico’s northwest’s face, in vocanic soils dating back over 1500-2000 years, is where you’ll find these ancient grape varieties (between 60 and 120 years old). These ancestral wine varieties, mostly Arinto dos Açores (>95%), can be found split into small 0,89, 0,6, 1,4 hectar plots. These wines are produced in limited batches. Born and bred in the majestic landscapes and among the wine culture of Pico Island, they represent Pico’s purest and most authentic terroir.
Vinha dos Aards is a wine born in the sea, ready to harmonize with seafood, bitter fish (mullet, sea roe, sea urchins) but with a density and concentration to work with white meats with burnt fat, like a good suckling pig or even a pork belly.
