New collaboration with Pop & Taste: Etienne Paumier shares his tasting notes

The world of wine is vast and diverse, with each region offering its unique characteristics and charm. Portuguese wines, in particular, have gained significant recognition in recent years for their exceptional quality and variety. However, to truly appreciate and understand the depth of Portuguese wines, the perspective of an outside wine expert can be invaluable.

Etienne Paumier will colaborate with Pop & Taste in present all the portuguese wines, with no exceptions, to all oenophile and connaisseurs who are eager to try new things.

But, who is Etienne Paumier?

Born in a wine making family in the Loire Valley, he used to taste from the vats with his grandfather as a boy and following his studies, Etienne’s passion for wine grew working for a family estate in Burgundy. Manual work in the vineyard as well as sales development for the estate hooked him for good and changed his perspective on wine forever: one tastes wine differently after pruning the vines in a snowy winter morning!

After moving to Hong Kong, he discovered the appetite for wine culture, tasting and history in the Far East and dedicate his life to share his passion with the booming Chinese wine market. Leading a team introducing over 200 wineries from all over the world to on-premises clients as well as private connoisseurs, he extended his knowledge beyond the borders of Europe to discover the great wines of Australasia or the Americas, on and off the beaten track.

Based in France near Annecy since 2018, he manages ACES VINS, a company dedicated to fine wine sourcing, valuation and authentication services accompanying clients looking to develop or manage their cellar. He is also the founder of LES CAVES DU LAC: an independent wine merchant and event designer dedicated to the promotion of truthful wines to the local public.

Holder of a WSET Diploma and expert fine wine authenticator member of the Winefraud circle, he has an extensive knowledge of wine history, culture and production. Judging wines in international competition such as the IWC, he has been an Ambassador for the VDP (German association of top producers) since 2019 and his tasting skills won him the Vinexpo Blind Tasting Challenge in 2018.
